Dr Gul Bano
Dr Gul Bano is based in London, UK. She is associate specialist in Endocrine and Diabetes in the Thomas Addison Unit at St. George’s Hospital NHS Trust. She is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Institute of Infection and Immunity.
She studied her MBBS and MD at University of Kashmir, India, and has a CCST in Endocrinology and Diabetes in the UK.
Dr Gul Bano has a clinical interest in genetic endocrine conditions, renal disease in diabetes and inherited diabetes and various metabolic disorders. She currently practices in London and her top areas of expertise are Familial Hyperparathyroidism, Van-Hippel Lindau disease and Paragangliomas and Familial Pituitary tumours.
She is the educational and academic lead for the Specialist registrars in Diabetes and Endocrinology at St. George’s NHS, London. In addition, she is the educational supervisor for two specialist endocrine and Diabetes Registrars.
Dr Gul Bano combines her clinical work with teaching and research. She organises teaching days at St George’s hospital for the Specialist registrars in rotation with Kings College Hospital and Guys & St Thomas hospitals and personally teaches on these days. The work of the projects with students has contributed to her research publications and conference abstracts.
Dr Bano’s clinical research consists of more than 30 publications in the last 15 years, 10 of them as first author. Besides, she has written a book and 2 book chapters.
She is member of the Royal College of Physicians in London, the Endocrine Society, Society for Endocrinology, British Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes, British Thyroid Association, Diabetes UK and Association of British Clinical Diabetologists.
