A technological meeting in the city of lights

The first edition of the European Technology Awards recognized the work of companies, start-ups, entities and technological professionals Europewide that play a revolutionary role in the digital transformation

Paris is not only the city of love, exquisite cuisine and fashion, but also the city of light, for being the core of European progress, marking history’s fate and thought of the old continent. El Suplemento, organizer of the European Technology Awards 2019, has chosen the French capital to host the first edition of these awards that recognize the work and effort of European technological companies that started the digital revolution.

The meeting point was the famous Hotel Ritz Paris, known worldwide for its history, its decoration in the purest Parisian style and the popularity of its guests, including Marcel Proust, Ernest Hemingway or Coco Chanel.

This was not a random decision, since the Ritz Paris was a technological marvel at the time of its opening. While it is now known as a bulwark of the most luxurious rooms in the world, it was remarkably futuristic when it opened in 1898, becoming the first hotel with telephone, electricity and private bathroom in each room.

The air and public transport strikes called in France for December 5, 6 and 7 caused the absence of several winners who, despite having done everything possible to attend the event, the cancellation of flights and trains left them without options to attend the gala on time.

In this sense, Lorena Pena, coordinator of the European Technology Awards and member of the organization, was responsible for collecting the award on behalf of Correos, Virtus Data Center and Ikan Biotech. The three companies were forced to cancel their trips and stays in Paris and, unfortunately, they were unable to collect the award personally.

The other winners began arriving at the hall adjacent to the Grand Jardin del Ritz Paris at 6:30 p.m., where the welcome cocktail took place. A relaxed moment, enlivened by glasses of champagne and French wine, which attendees took advantage of to exchange impressions and business cards.

After the cocktail, the doors of the Vendôme lounge were opened, where the award ceremony took place, conducted by the Valencian journalist and presenter Sonia Fernández.

The voice of the soprano Vanessa Cera inaugurated the gala performing the famous song Summertime, by Ella Fitzgerald.

In his opening speech, Antonio Queijeiro, director of El Suplemento, dedicated a few words to the three companies that failed to reach the event: "we know that they have done their best to be here tonight" In addition, he took the opportunity to thank the attendees for their efforts to attend to the gala, and his team, for having managed to celebrate the event despite the adversities: “calm sea never made a sailor expert" he concluded.

The winners of this First Edition of the European Technology Awards in the respective categories have been: Supercharge (Digital Transformation), Herta Security (Software), Yudonpay (App), Swaven (Brand Commerce), Asti Mobile Robotics (Automation), Virtus Data Centers (Data Center), Hyperbaric (Technological Innovation), Lemon Way (Fintech), BeClever Solutions (Cybersecurity), Inves Biofarm (Biotechnology), Fujitsu (Big Data), Einzelnet (Digital Innovation), Accenture (Technology Consulting), Saunier Duval (Environmental Commitment), Correos (Ecommerce), ZebraONCOfish Project, by Ikan Biotech (Technological Milestone), Travelmate Robotics (Product of the Year) and Eviation (Company of the Year).

The awards ceremony began after 8:00 pm, with a common element in the thanking speeches: technological innovation and the need to adapt to the new world. "The beginnings are always very difficult, but the motivation is the fuel that remains when everything else disappears", said José Gil Verdú, CEO of Einzelnet. “When we talk about innovation, you think of software. We make heavy machinery, but we also believe that the future is technological, which is why we are so proud of this award”, commented Andrés Hernando, founder and CEO of Hiperbaric. On the other hand, Verónica Pascual, CEO of Asti Mobile Robotics said that "seeking competitiveness in the market is not enough, we have to move towards a sensitive and, above all, flexible automation."

To close the awards ceremony, the manager of El Suplemento, Pablo Suñer, thanked in his speech the collaboration, effort and dedication of the entire team, which "have made possible the celebration of this event".

The touch of glamour to the ceremony was put by the Valencian stylist Tomás Salcedo, of the firm Thommy Estilistas, who was in charge of the styling of the entire staff of El Suplemento.

The gala dinner was enlivened by the imposing voice of the soprano Vanessa Cera and her group Opera Show, which surprised at the desserts with a flashmob that pleased the audience. The final touch was put by the lyrical singers encouraging the public to rise their glasses in a farewell toast.
