Dr Simon Peake, Consultant Gastroenterologist

Dr Simon Peake is well known as a consultant gastroenterologist, with a great amount of completely positive reviews from patients who have been treated by him. He specialises in the management of inflammatory bowel disease, as well as colonoscopy, with expertise in dealing with conditions such as diarrhoea and constipation, dyspepsia, acid reflux and irritable bowel syndrome.

As a leading doctor in the field of gastroenterology, Dr Simon Peake has a deep academic formation. He successfully completed his Bachelor of Science at the Imperial College London with first class honours in 2001. He completed, at the same university, his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery only two years later, and he achieved his Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK in 2006. After reaching those milestones, he trained at several hospitals throughout the Northwest London area. He undertook specialist fellowships in inflammatory bowel disease between 2010 and 2011, and endoscopy between 2012 and 2013 at St Mark’s Hospital. He was then appointed as a research fellow at said institution and Imperial College, being granted with his Doctorate in Medicine in 2014 after presenting his thesis, entitled “Aberrant Expression of Homing Molecules on Dendritic Cells Drives Inflammation in Crohn’s Disease”. Subsequently, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2021.

His deep understanding of gastroenterology, added to his extended academic formation and investigations, led him to be appointed as a Consultant at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in 2015. He has since then taken on the roles of endoscopy training lead at St Mary’s Hospital. Nowadays, he stands as the lead physician for inflammatory bowel disease for the Trust. In addition to his practice in the NHS, he undertakes private work at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital and One Welbeck Digestive Health, where he is a founding partner.

Dr Simon Peake has also obtained membership in several associations, such as the British Society of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association and the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation. His activity has also been highlighted because of his research. Dr Simon Peake has published numerous works in the fields of inflammatory bowel disease and endoscopy, as well as writing several book chapters. He has also peer-reviewed many articles for high impact gastroenterology journals. Dr Peake combines all of these activities with being an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College, sharing his knowledge and expertise with the medical community.
