Dr Masud Haq, Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology
Dr Masud Haq is a distinguished consultant in diabetes and endocrinology practising in London, Kent and Belfast. With over 28 years of experience, he is recognised for his skill in managing patients with thyroid issues, menopause, obesity, and diabetes, in addition to specialising in menstrual disorders and testosterone deficiency. His comprehensive and personalised approach has allowed him to excel in his field.
Dr Haq completed his training at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in 1995. Subsequently, he gained dual accreditation in diabetes and endocrinology, and general medicine. During his training, he also completed a Doctorate in Medicine (MD) in thyroid disorders at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
Dr Haq worked as a consultant at St. George’s and Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust before assuming his position as a consultant at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust in 2008. In 2010, he was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians and in 2015 he was awarded a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG). He was clinical lead of his department from 2012 to 2020, during which time he established the inaugural West Kent Community Diabetes service.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Haq has held significant roles in medical education. He was the training program director for second-year residents for ten years and continues to train doctors, nurses, and students. In 2024, he was awarded a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators (MAcadMEd).
He has received several awards throughout his career. He was a Marie Curie fellow and received a Wellcome fellowship for his research. He was a double finalist at the National HSJ Value Awards in 2021 in recognition of his work in diabetes. In 2022, he won first prize for a quality improvement project at his Trust and gave a winning oral presentation at King’s College the same year.
He is a member of several organisations, including the British Thyroid Association and Society of Endocrinology. He was on the steering committee for the Joint British Diabetes Society (JBDS) inpatient working group and has authored national guidelines.
He has been the principal investigator in major studies like ADDRESS-2 and Omnipod global study. He has published over 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals including book chapters.
Dr Haq provides optimal management strategies for his patients. He sees private patients at 10 Harley Street, in London, Nuffield Hospital, in Brighton and Kingsbridge Hospital, in Belfast.
