Dr Vinod Gangwani
Mr Vinod Gangwani is an experienced consultant ophthalmologist and corneal surgeon with special interest in modern bespoke cataract surgery, refractive lens surgery and complex cornea/ocular surface diseases. With over 20 years of experience in Ophthalmology, his career and focus on complex procedures have made him a highly sought-after professional in the UK public & private healthcare sector.
After completing his basic training in ophthalmology, Mr Gangwani deepened his knowledge in subspecialty areas with a two-year clinical and research fellowship at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital. There, he gained extensive experience in complex cataract surgery and the implantation of premium intraocular lenses, including multifocal, toric and EDOF (extended depth of focus) lenses. He was involved in multiple randomised control trials for toric and multifocal intra-ocular lenses and has published several papers to this effect. He later trained in corneal and external eye diseases at both Moorfields and King’s College Hospital in London.
Mr Gangwani is currently a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon & leads the cataract microsurgery department at Ashford & St Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust, where he is able to provide best care and expertise to his patients. He also provides fellowship training in Cornea and complex cataract surgeries in the same trust and has so far trained numerous fellows, who are now consultants in different parts of the world.
His clinical practice covers a wide range of procedures, and he is also the author of numerous publications in international journals such as the American Journal of Ophthalmology, the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the British Journal of Ophthalmology. He has presented his work at multiple global conferences, further strengthening his position as a leader in ophthalmic innovation.
Dr Gangwani works with the UK’s leading private health insurers and is recognised as a Platinum Consultant with Bupa. He sees patients at several private medical centres: Nuffield Woking Hospital, Runnymede Hospital, Syon Clinic and The Clementine Churchill Hospital within Circle Health Group.
